What inspired you to write children’s books?
My nieces and nephews. Specifically, my nephews. I write children's books because one day my nephew cried in a bookstore, saying he didn't want to buy a book because none of the characters looked like him. I made a promise to write books with characters who represented him.
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I've known since I was eight years old that I wanted to be a writer. I wrote my first story about my brother falling from a tree. It was a great story. I still have it.
What is the most difficult part of your artistic process?
Finding the time and fighting imposter syndrome.
