Thuba is a children’s book author, an Early Childhood Education Specialist, and a communications specialist for the Minnesota House of Representatives, playing a central role in conveying key priorities and transformative legislation to the public. On July 11th Sarah Warren will host local kid lit authors at the Midtown Farmers Market including special guest Sun Yung Shin! The first 10 visitors at 11am will get a free signed copy of Revolutions Are Made of Love, coauthered by Sun Yung and Mélina Mangal.

Sun Yung Shin will be at Moon Palace Books to celebrate the launch for HEART EATER: A Memoir of Immigration, Belonging, and How We Find Ourselves in Language, published by Black Lawrence Press. Sun Yung will be joined by Kristin Collier, Jennifer Bowen, Michael Kleber-Diggs, Rachel Moritz, Michael Torres, and Ash Wynter!!!

Thuba Nguyễn is part of Thread of Us. This free exhibition features 20 portraits representing Ojibwe, Ghanian, Pakistani, Hmong, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indian participants in the Twin Cities who are reclaiming their cultural identity. Emiko Rainbow hosted a celebration of MN AAPI Creative Voices at Broken Clock Brewing. Readers young and old enjoyed readings, food, music, and books for sale from local bookseller Wild Rumpus!

In celebration of Philippine Independence Day on June 12, Cristina Oxtra read her book What Lolo Wants as a bedtime story to children at the Cultural Society of Filipino Americans-Minnesota's summer camp.

Payal Doshi, Karen Kenney, and Trần Thị Minh Phước were featured authors at the Midtown Farmers Market! They gave away signed books to eager fans, and Phuoc led one of her legendary story times. Check out Picture Book Parade’s events page for upcoming author visits at the market!

Trần Thị Minh Phước celebrated the unveiling of Mekong Journeys: Raising New Villages, a Southeast Asian digital storytelling archive. This event is in partnership with the Minnesota Historical Society.

Visitors also learned more about friend Trần Thị Minh Phước’s journey to America, including, “her risky voyage in the stormy ocean, and her 50 hours greyhound trip to Minnesota where she believed that she could find the precious treasures in life- a better education and a safe environment.” Find out more here.

Sarah Warren’s book Everything a Drum was featured as part of a year-long gallery exhibit at MSP airport in the SEE18 Gallery in Concourse C in Terminal 1. You can check out the full lineup of MN books here.
