Cristina Oxtra

Cristina Oxtra is a Filipino American author. She has written 16 books, including picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, and graphic novels. She earned a BA in journalism at San Diego State University and an MFA in creative writing for children and young adults at Hamline University. Her debut picture book, What Lolo Wants, published by Kids Can Press, is a 2025 Minnesota Book Awards Finalist and 2025 Society of Midland Authors Awards Honoree. She also received the 2019-2020 Mirrors & Windows Fellowship at the Loft Literary Center, where she is a teaching artist. She is a former journalist, former middle grade-high school educator, Air Force veteran, Taekwondo instructor, and public relations professional.
